The full contents of the 1992 Whitehills time capsule are available online for all to see! Every single item from the capsule has been photographed or scanned and we are proud to present them in the online album. Scroll through the "wonders worth saving" our students left 25 years ago...
The time capsule contains student art, student writing, two issues of the Lansing State Journal, memorabilia like a school brick and piece of clay art, coins minted in 1992, a VHS cassette showing classroom activities, ELPS district newsletters, Polaroid photos of the new school addition dedication, a spelling book, and more. For those who missed the opening of the capsule, here is the history: As part of our PawPalooza event in January 2017, we had the privilege of opening the 1992 Whitehills time capsule that had been sealed into the school wall for 25 years. School families and staff, Whitehills alumni, former teachers, and community members joined us for the time capsule opening.
Principal Andrew Wells had the honor of being joined by two very special guests, Mr. Mike Stahlman, a longtime ELPS employee, and Mr. Greg Bogan, who served as the Whitehills custodian in 1992 and retired after 26 years with the district. These two gentlemen actually installed the time capsule in the wall 25 years ago!
